Dr. Grant is an internationally recognized and award-winning psychologist, author, researcher, Doctoral Addictions Counselor, educator with specific expertise in technology's impact on mental health, and National Advisor of Healthy Device Management for Newport Healthcare. He is an American Psychological Association Fellow, served as President of APA Division 46, and currently serves as an APA D46 Executive Board Member At Large, Chair of the APA (D46) “Device Management & Intelligence” committee, Advocacy Division Partner Liaison, Division Science Partner, and Treasurer of California Psychological Association Division VI.
Dr. Grant facilitates “Healthy Device Management” and “Good Digital Citizenship” treatment training workshops for practitioners, educators, parents, and communities. He is a globally respected and popular conference speaker, webinar, podcast, onscreen broadcast interview guest, and print content contributor on device-centric behaviors and addiction. His interview and publication credits include: The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, New York Times, Time Magazine, Forbes, The Hill, The Hollywood Reporter, Business Insider, NewsNation, ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, CNN, The Daily Show, and a two-page People Magazine feature story about him.
His latest research includes a national study in partnership with the NHC Center for Research and Innovation investigating the potential impact of a caregiver’s device use on attachment bonds. Other recent/current projects include a “Healthy Device Management/Good Digital Citizenship” curriculum workbook, Co-Editor/contributing chapters author in collaboration with a cohort of global experts recently published in a handbook by Springer Publishing (in partnership with the Institute of Digital Media and Child Development), as chapter author on the impacts of device-centric engagement for two books, serving as an Expert Advisor for an APA report on video content for teens, and partnering with the National Association of Behavioral Healthcare “Youth Services Committee” to create all the content for “Safe Connections,” their new national “Youth Services Cyberhealth” campaign.
